Objectives. While mild to severe acne is a common problem in the teenage years, many adults also suffer from the condition. Although there is an appreciable body of dermatological literature on this issue, the psychosocial concomitants of severe, visible adult acne are little elaborated. The aim of this research is to detail the salient experiences of adults with severe visible acne, and to set out the implications of these
experiences. Design. A phenomenological qualitative approach was adopted to elicit detailed accounts of the impact of visible acne upon the lives of a small sample of sufferers. Method. 11 adults suffering from severe visible acne took part in semi-structured interviews via e-mail, over an extended period of time. Transcripts of these interviews
served as the data for an interpretative phenomenological analysis. Results. 5 themes emerged, detailing different aspects of respondents’ personal and social lives in the context of their acne. These were: powerlessness a

If food(diet) doesn't cause acne in teenagers, what does?
some studies constantly say food(diet) has nothing to with it(acne), its hormone/heriditary/or something else, but every time i see pictures of my parents and grandparents or other older adults as children, their skin is flawless. they didn't have adobe photoshop back then! and correct me if i'm wrong, but i think both the young boys and girls had hormones just like us. also, i look at all those young people in war-torn third world countries, i've never seen any of the with acne on their face! there has always been war, disease, stress, poverty, hormones, etc. the only that HAS changed is the type of food we eat. candy, fast food, and other foods that make up an unhealthy diet, so how could it be anything else.
If food(diet) doesn't cause acne in teenagers, what does?
food can be an issue! greasy foods such as pizza and fries-things like that. it boosts the oil in your skin that builds up and causes acne. alot of things can trigger acne. i know because i had it myself. washing your face to much signals the body that you are running low on oil, so then you get more! you don't want to wash your face more than twice a day! none of my family had acne either. what happens is the oil in your pores builds up and causes a plug. then your skin swells up and becomes red and sore. i would recomend a medication like proactive or acne free! i use proactive and i works like a charm... i used to have bad acne but now you can't see one blemish!

Reply:YEs. Food doesnt make concern. Hormone is the major factor causing acne. And also bacteria that infected the skin of the face causing inflammation of the sebacous gland.
Reply:hygiene and hormones
Reply:Hormonal changes, heredity, bacteria on the surface of the skin. These things can cause acne. Oh, believe it, our parents and grandparents had acne just as much as any other generation. Back in the day, my mother (who was a teenager in the 60's) had this stuff called Pan-cake makeup. It was the most incredibly heavy, thick foundation you could imagine. My mother's generation used LOTS of makeup.
Reply:Acne is a barterial infection of the skin or hormones. It isn't diet, I cannot stress this enough. I would side with the studies and scientific data before I would side with your own observations. I'll provide an informative link for your reading pleasure.
Reply:Hormone imbalances cause acne, and diet can have an effect on hormones. It's hard to measure the effects of foods on hormones, though. Your entire diet comes together to affect you as a whole, so it's hard to study what foods do what. That's probably why a lot of studies haven't been able to verify if certain foods can cause acne.
Reply:well and what is your point? if you've come to your conclusion that it is your poor diet!!and question do you worry for your own skin? if ... why don't you change your diet. oh i tell you i became a vegan/vegetarian and my skin did change allot I'm still and it keeps changing i hope i get the peaches in cream complexion.

Reply:Who knows? Look at the amount of chemicals we are consuming, from chicken and vegetables (growth hormone injection/pesticides). But i believe the impt factor is inherited or you are not taking care of your skin enough. Clean at least 3 times a day. Excessive may result in dryness of skin and may result in secretion of more oil causing even more acne to be formed. Take care.
Reply:With regard to to other things (heredity, weather conditions, chemical imbalance or even stress)I think sexual stimulation like masturbation etc, also contribute to acne formation considering the fact that, this increases hormone level in the body which in turn causes an overgrowth of skin. therefore blocking the sebaceous oil from coming out.
Reply:Genes and hormones! All teens are hormone factories, but some just have good genes and don't get pimples. I know, because I had acne when I was a teen. It was frustrating! I used use all kinds of products, I was taking anti-biotics the dermatologist gave me, there was even a point when I stopped eating. I thought if I had no fat of any kind from any source, my face wouldn't be able to get oily and get pimples. Finally, I decided I was spending too much money on treatments, and paying the dermatologist, and I learned to live with it. By the time I turned 19 my face was totally clear, and it's been that way ever since.

Fed up with acne?
I'm 20 and have been dealing with acne since I was 14. I've used a number of products. Right now I'm using several acne products: an antibiotic, a night time lotion, two daytime creams that I alternate, and witch hazel twice a day. It seems my face looks pretty good for a while, but then I eventually break out again. Have any adults experinced this? If so, when did yours finally go away? I hope this is just a phase.

Hi There
Here are some real answers on skin conditions. Remedies at the bottom. Cleansing the body of toxins is the key. Especially a colon cleanse! Educate yourself on detoxifyng the blood.
Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman N.D. - "What is your skin trying to tell you? Often the skin is a metaphor for deeper issues and a way for your body to send up a red flag to warn you that all is not well underneath. When our skin is unhealthy it is usually a reflection of the internal state of our bodies, and is often a sign of poor elimination of toxins and waste products. Most of us are embarrassed by skin problems such as rashes, boils or acne, especially in places where others can see our imperfections. The skin is the body's first line of defense against the environment. It has to deal with the effects of weather, sun , cold, heat, dryness, humidity, scrapes, bumps, soaps, detergents, chemicals, perspiration and dirt of all kinds. It is a wonder that our skin stays healthy most of the time! We can help our skin deal with this onslaught by optimizing our general health and by protecting our skin from harsh environmental exposure. Western medicine generally treats skin eruptions with either antibiotics, cortisone, or antifungal preparations. These medicines may alleviate the skin problem temporarily, or occasionally for good, but do not address the source of the problem. Putting a lid on skin symptoms without getting to the root of the imbalance may even result in suppression, that means the imbalance may be driven deeper causing more serious health problems later without ever strengthening the underlying vital force of the person. Fortunately, naturopathic medicine offers a wide vareity of effective treatments for skin problems."
Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman N.D. - "Your skin is a reflection of how well your body is eliminating the toxins that build up on a daily basis. Chronic skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis stem from a combination of genetic factors, immune stress, dietary deficiencies or sensitivities, and the accumulation of toxins in the body. For our skin to be radiant and clear, it is very important that the other organs of elimination (kidneys, liver, lungs, and colon) are cleansing the body effectively. If not, the skin will be overtaxed, pores will become clogged, and eruptions of one sort or another will result. Here are a number of steps you can take to improve your body's overall elimination wtih specific emphasis on your skin."
Detoxification is a normal body process of eliminating or neutralizing toxins through the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph and skin. Fasting is the world's most ancient and natural healing mechanism. Fasting triggers a truly wondrous cleansing process that reaches right down to each and every cell and tissue in the body.

Natural Cures
1. Fruits and Vegetables for Acne: Carrot %26amp; spinach, celery %26amp; watercress, grapefruit juices are all useful to combat acne.
2. Unwholesome Foods: Acne, a prevalent problem among teen-aged boys would not be possible in our society if our foods were wholesome. A most sad and disgusting sight is the pus-filled pimples due to inner toxicity --- wastes trying desperately to escape through the face. This condition often turns a gentle face in the blossom of youth into a waste dump of pimples, pus and subsequent pock marks which can be prevented. The tons of acne medications and prescriptions sold annually act only on the effect of the harmful food, and not the cause of the disease, malnutrition. The traditional teenage meal, a grease burger, french fries and a milk shake or cola simply does not provide enough nourishment for anyone, let alone a boy going through puberty to adulthood. Our highly processed foods are devoid of hormones found in fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds. Must do a colon cleanse to rid of all the toxins in the body, which eventually get into the blood and cause acne and all other diseases.
3. Cabbage: Apply a lotion of freshly prepared cabbage juice preceded, if desired, by the application of leaves. The eating of cabbage leaves or juice is also helpful.
4. Lemon Juice: Skin problems such as acne... will often respond to a treatment of lemon juice. For blackheads rub lemon juice over them each night.
5. Black Walnut: Externally, Black Walnut is nearly a miracle worker in cases of ...acne, dandruff, boils, itch, shingles, ringworm--we could go on, but you can see that you can use Black Walnut whenever a skin disorder appears! The tincture is an excellent first-aid remedy for wounds.
Best of health to you

Anyway, I went through 2 rounds of accutane. Yes, that is serious stuff. However, I still have flare-ups at my age. When I went through my divorce, I had a big flare-up and decided to try something from the television. I actually purchased Pro-Active. I LOVE IT!!! It truly works. I spent my life trying different pills, creams, ointments, and even occasional tanning. Proactive works the best. When I complain about my acne, people always comment, "You don't have acne." :-) Just try it!
I still get the occasional pimple or black-head, but it is minimal. I have now been using the proactive for over 5 years. One of the best is that I have had no additional scarring, and my face does not itch as it did with many other creams and washes.
Reply:It's prolly just a phase, but if u get really fed up with it, you might be allergic to something, i don't know.
Reply:To tell you the truth, you are putting way too many different products on your skin. It's drying out your skin too much, and causing your skin to produce more sebum (acne oils) and that's what makes you break out again. Putting too many things on your face is going to cause it to break out. Stick with the antibiotic and either the daytime cream or nighttime lotion ( don't use both the lotion and cream, only one!) This should help you a lot.
Reply:I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

Can shingles lead to acne?
about 3 years ago, when I was 15, I got shingles around my stomach, nerve areas. It went away shortly, but thereafter I've had the worst skin of anyone i know. skin problems don't really run in my family and nothing i've used has helped at all. and believe me...i've tried everything. I read somewhere that shingles can lead to skin infections, but I've never really met anyone who has gotten them as young as I did, to see if they have acne or have skin irritations. I asked a P.A. who came to our school and she said that usually only senior adults get shingles and that she didn't think having them would lead to acne. but really, I have a good diet, I eat healthy, take care of my face, and it just won't go away. I just want to know if anyone here has gotten shingles young, or if you're a doctor and you know if shingles can lead to skin problems. please, let me know.
Can shingles lead to acne?
No, shingles can't lead to acne. The problem with shingles is they can get infected if you scratch and pick at them while you have the shingle rash. The rash will come up along a nerve ending and most people get shingles on their sides, near where your rash sounds like it was. Anyone who has had chicken pox can get shingles, though it usually does happens to older people or sick people. If you were sick or under alot of stress when you came down with shingles that might explain your break out.
Unfortunately some people are more prone to acne than others. You re doing right to eat well and take care of your skin. Sounds like it might be time for a visit to a dermatologist.
Reply:No, shingles does not lead to acne, shingles are worst than acne, heres why.
Shingles is a reactivation of the herpes zoster virus (varicella-zoster virus, or VZV). This same virus causes the childhood illness chickenpox. The chickenpox virus (varicella) remains in a dormant state in the body in the root of nerves that control sensation. In about 1 out of 5 people, the virus "wakes up," often many years after the chickenpox infection. The virus then travels along a sensory nerve into the skin causing a painful rash known as shingles.
No one knows for sure what causes the chickenpox virus to become activated to cause shingles. Some possibilities include the following: Stress, Fatigue, A weakened immune system (This may be age-related, disease-related, or a drug-related decrease in ability to keep the chickenpox virus in an inactive state.), Cancer, Radiation treatments, Injury of the skin where the rash occurs.
Call your doctor if you have pain or rash in a band on one side of your body. If you think you have shingles, you should be seen as soon as possible. Antiviral medication is effective only if given early.
* If the rash with blisters is on your nose or near your eyes, you should be seen right away because the virus may spread to the eye and cause eye damage or vision loss.
* You should also be seen as soon as possible if you have a medical illness that decreases your ability to fight off infection. You may be able to avoid complications.
Go to a hospital's emergency department if these conditions develop:
* If you have shingles and a high fever or feel sick
* If the blisters are spreading to other areas of your body

Can anyone give a prediction of my adult height and the end of my puberty?
I know it's somewhat impossible, but I just need an estimate. Sorry if I'm using the metric scale, I'm not used to feet and inches. I'm a guy, 18 years old, and 165. My dad is 166 and my mom is 156. I have a younger bro of 17 and he's 172, my sis is 14 and she's 158. My dad's side of families are short and around his height. My mom's brothers are huge, averaging at least 180 each, which explains why my younger bro is taller than me I guess. My puberty started when I was somewhere between 13 to 14 (noted by acne and pubic hair). I barely have armpit and facial hair presently. When is it most likely that I will reach my adult height and the final stages of my puberty?
Can anyone give a prediction of my adult height and the end of my puberty?
Ask your mom how tall you were when you were 2 years old, and multiply that by 3, it'll give you an approximate height.
Reply:is this centimeters or milimeters or kilometers???????

The best acne treatments are lotions that

Does anybody have any at home remedies that work for acne?
I've had problems with "adult acne" before.
I'm 50, and fortunately haven't had any sort
of serious problems for the past decade.
My secret? Ah, gee. If I told you that... then
it wouldn't be a secret anymore! Oh, well...
actually, it was never a secret to begin with.
All right: NEUTROGENA scrub-lotions. I
use Morning Blast when I take a shower,
every morning, and Daily Scrub in the eves.
The thing is that creams do not tend to do
much else for your skin besides leave a
thin layer of residue that isn't all that easy

not cut it--because it literally seeps into

The only thing that will work for you at this point is going to the dr.
I finally went and it was the only thing that actually helped.
Make sure you go to a dermatologist though, they are specialists in the field.

Reply:Know what you mean. People with acne have very sensitive skin. May people think that using a ton of fancy scrubs and harsh soaps help, but they only make it worse!! Use PLAIN white Dove bar and your hands for washing your face. Splash cool water on your face for a final rinse. In the mornings after you have cleansed your face, use either Dove daily moisturiser w/ spf., or Johnson %26amp; Johnson's Purpose moisturizer! Both are very mild. At night, Wash face with plain white dove bar (make sure not exfoliator or cucumber crap) and then apply Neutrogena's Visibly Even night cream!! It has Retinol in it which is used to treat skin problems!! Apply it liberally and evenly. I also dab on a tiny bit of benzol peroxide cream-zit cream on problem spots. In the morning, make sure to wash with dove and moisturize again! It has helped me out big time and my skin looks healthy and great after a few weeks.:) Also, sounds cliche, but drink bottled water--try a few a day. It does help. Keep yourself healthy too-take vitamins and plenty of rest-eat good. Ever notice that when your sick, you tend to break out worse? its true!

How effective is Proactive for acne?
I have had acne for about 10 years and nothing I use seems to work. I've tried changing my diet to more natural organic foods, I don't take showers in really hot water anymore, I wash my face twice a day. I could use some suggestions for anyone about treatments people have used and also if proactive has worked for you. I'm at my wits end and I'm an adult now and this is so embarrassing for me! Thank you.
How effective is Proactive for acne?
I have used proactive and it sounds like to me that your skin is like mine. Proactive just made my face worse, but I think that I did wrong when I was using it because you are not suppose to be in the sun and stuff like that and I was. Proactive is something that you will have to use all of your life if you start using it. When I quit the treatment my face got even worse than it already was. So I went to the doctor and he gave me a prescription for this gel called Clindamycin and if you use this, once the acne is gone then you don't have to use this or anything else again. So ask your doctor if he will prescribe you the tube of Clindamycin gel. IT WORKS! lol
Good Luck!

Is there such a thing as dog acne?
I have a female 18 month old chocolate lab dog. She gets these spots on her lips, right under her nose that look like people acne. They are filled with puss and blood and you can pop them just like a zit. Some are bigger than others. She's had this since she was a puppy and sometimes it looks like it hurts her a little bit. I haven't changed her food recently, but she has been on Puppy Chow, Dog Chow, Iams, and now Science Diet Adult Large Breed which she has been on for 4 months. I've taken her to the vet and the vet said it was like human acne, and it wasn't anything to worry about. I'm wondering though is there anything I can do to prevent them from popping up, or is this something she's gonna have forever or is it something she will outgrow?
Is there such a thing as dog acne?
Acne
Dogs can get acne, too. Typically it shows up as bumps on a dog's chin that resemble those seen with acne in people. In some cases, this can be the result of allergic reactions. Plastic food bowels may be a source of these reactions in some dogs. Demodectic mange, immunosuppressive disease, drug reactions and trauma are other possible underlying causes.
Canine acne usually occurs on the chin of affected dogs. It resembles acne in humans and it tends to occur in a similar pattern, showing up in adolescence and continuing into adulthood in a small percentage of dogs. Short coated dogs, such as boxers, bulldog and Doberman pinschers are most commonly affected. Usually this is a minor problem but some dogs can develop significant infections.
It is necessary to appropriately treat any underlying disease in order to succeed in eliminating the acne long term. Most cases of canine acne can be controlled.
Mild forms of acne may just appear as reddened bumps on the skin. More severe cases may have larger hard lumps, sometimes associated with a draining tract.
It is not always necessary to treat acne. When it becomes a problem, it will often respond to treatment with a shampoo containing benzoyl peroxide. Dogs may be sensitive to gels or shampoos containing greater than 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. In really severe cases, antibiotic treatment lasting several weeks or even short term treatment with corticosteroids may be necessary.
Reply:A) Science diet is vet endorsed because vets are paid to endorse it. Vets are there to make money, never forget that. I would not reccommend using SD. Try Artemis, Wellness, Chicken Soup, Canine Caviar, Merrick, Innova Evo, Nature's Recipe, or Nutro Ultra instead.
B) Dogs do get acne, it's pretty much the same as humans, if you switch to a high quality food, particularly a skin and coat formula, it may get better or go away altogether.
Good luck!
Reply:no
Reply:It is very common in pups, and usually has nothing to do with their diet. Make sure her food and water bowls are kept scrupulously clean. Metal bowls are better, since it is impossible to sterilize plastic.
I would wipe her food bowls down with a dilute solution of Javex (2 tbs. Javex to a quart of water) to disinfect them after she has eaten.
Reply:I'm not sure but I've heard that flaxseed oil is good for a dog's skin and coat.
Reply:sometimes the acne will go away, sometimes not. try changing her food, it might b something thats in the food shes got now thats missing something that she needs. plus make sure that her skin isnt as oily. that will add to the occurance of the acne. and i think as our own doctors would say, dont pop them.
i had a lab/roti cross dog that had the same problem, he had it the first couple years that we had him but it went away. we just had to brush his hair and keep him as clean as possible. and he hated the water lol.
Reply:One of our dogs has a similar problem. He breaks out on his chin all the time. We discovered that in his case, his chin is usually quite dirty after he eats and drinks. The simple solution was to wipe his face clean after he eats or drinks. While not 100% effective, it made a huge difference.
Your vet is right, it's nothing to worry about and he might outgrow it.
Reply:My dog had the same thing. I was using plastic food and water bowls. When I told this to the vet she said to get stainless steel bowles and to keep them very clean. As soon as I did this the acne went away. If you are using plastic bowles get rid of them. Also Canidae is a much better food than any of those.

What acne treament should I use that doesn't contain benzoyl peroxide, what's the best product?
My skin is really sensitive to benzoyl peroxide, I get bad irritations from it. I am using Loreal Adult Intenisve Peel, but I don't know how well that'll work out for me.
What's the best acne treating system on the market that doesn't contain benzoyl peroxide as it's active ingredient?
What acne treament should I use that doesn't contain benzoyl peroxide, what's the best product?
Laser surgery has been in use for some time to reduce the scars left behind by acne, but research is now being done on lasers for prevention of acne formation itself. The laser is used to produce one of the following effects:
to burn away the follicle sac from which the hair grows
to burn away the sebaceous gland which produces the oil
to induce formation of oxygen in the bacteria, killing them
Since lasers and intense pulsed light sources cause thermal damage to the skin there are concerns that laser or intense pulsed light treatments for acne will induce hyperpigmented macules (spots) or cause long term dryness of the skin. As of 2005, this is still mostly at the stage of medical research rather than established treatment.
Because acne appears to have a significant hereditary link, there is some expectation that cheap whole-genome DNA sequencing may help isolate the body mechanisms involved in acne more precisely, possibly leading to a more satisfactory treatment. (Crudely put, take the DNA of large samples of people with significant acne and of people without, and let a computer search for statistically strong differences in genes between the two groups). However, as of 2005 DNA sequencing is not yet cheap and all this may still be decades off. It is also possible that gene therapy could be used to alter the skin's DNA.

Does anyone know of age-defying acne products?
I am starting to get wrinkles, but still get pimples. I completely skipped the healthy adult skin stage! Any age-defying products that I try like Oil of Olay, just make my acne worse because it is just so oily. Does anyone know of a product that helps with wrinkles and helps with acne as well, or at least doesn't make acne worse?
Does anyone know of age-defying acne products?
Go for Dr. Patricia Wexler's Acnescription Starter Kit. All of her products contain her MMPi technology that impedes the enzymes which degrade skin and causes wrinkles. Her Acnescription line is specially created for those still struggling with acne. The starter kit will run about $40, and last you for a month or so. That's long enough to see results for the wrinkles. I'm sure the acne will lessen within a week of using it. You might want to try her Acne Spot Treatment as well. Remember, the effect won't be instantaneous. No worthwhile product has immediate results. You can pick up a kit at Bath %26amp; Body Works, where they stand behind they're products 100%. If you use it for a week and decide that it's not right for you, or that it dries out your skin, you can always return it for a full refund.
Let me know how it turns out.
(Okay, so yeah, I'm a sales associate for BBW. But I still love Wexler's product and use it.)

Let me know how it turns out.
(Okay, so yeah, I'm a sales associate for BBW. But I still love Wexler's product and use it.)

Acne & Dermatologist... ??
i've had acne since i was 15 (now im 17) and 2 months ago i decided to go to a dermatologist, by the way i dont have health insurance, so i paid $60 in cash... well he said that everything about chocolate and greasy food are all myths and it doesnt cause acne... well he prescribed me tetracycline 500mg for 4 months 1 capsule a day. and a cream called adult acnomel... its been 2 months since i started taking them and i havent had any results yet.... and my next appointment is in october....
Last week me and my gf went to a spa and i asked how much it was to make an appointment if i dont have insurance, and the lady said it was a free consultation.. so i schedule an appointment for september since it was free..... Now my question........ What should i tell the dr over there?? that im currently taking that medicine or what?? since is a free consultation could he prescribe me something?
the spa is called onia, and they do microdermabrasion, laserhair removal and more.
thnx.
Acne %26amp; Dermatologist... ??
tetracycline wont do anything for you.
GET ACCUTANE! It's the only thing that helped me!
Reply:Yes, do tell them what meds you're on and what topical creams or solutions you use. They need to know this, as some treatments can have adverse reactions to what is allready in and on your body. Their response will help you make an informed decision on what types of treatments will work best for you.
Reply:The Spa isn't going to prescribe anything. The Spa is going to provide facial services.
Yes you should let them know what you are taking but you should know that just like the prescription. You will have to keep going to the Spa for results.
Microdermabrasion session first of all costs around $100.00 and you will have to go and you may not see results until after 6 or 7 visits.
I suggest you continue with your prescription, follow up with the doctor and go to the Spa. Pamper yourself, that will help relieve stress on your skin.
Reply:yeah, don't be afraid or hesitant of telling your doctor or any doctor what you're taking. they should be aware of it, so as to properly prescribe you medication. i'm not quite sure if the doctor at the spa will prescribe you medication, since it doesn't sound like they do, and strictly perform those procedures. they may or they may not, but they might do consultations on those procedures only.
PS... have you really not tried proactiv? a mixture of proactiv and a regular workout schedule will be healthier for your skin. also, taking vitamin e is crucial if you want clearer skin. i had mild acne, and my acne ceases to exist.

Is anyone an Obagi Nu Derm User for Acne?
Do you use Obagi and what did it do for you? What did you use it for?
I go back Thursday for my 6 week check up and though the color of my skin is more even I still get acne though it goes away faster. And I still have red dots from acne like a beard. *sigh* I am also on medication. I was seeking help for acne, discoloration of the skin from acne and sun damage even though I am an avid sunblock wearer. I also have pitting but not as extreme as others I have seen. It is the acne that kills me. This has been going on for 8 years as an adult. I plan to get a microderm abrassion after my face has cleared but it isn't quite clear yet and I use it failthfully morning and night regardless of how annoying it can seem at times. Somebody give me a whisper of hope that I am still in process. or am I just kidding myself?

one of the hard things about acne is that there's so many products to try. i've probably tried like 20 different products, until i settled on a product called beautiful skin. it's a whole regimen that, in my opinion, works better than proactiv.

Acne & water....does it have a connection?
i've had acne since forever, and this has made me have such a horrific life as a teenager and now as a young adult, simply refuses to go away!!but i recently i decided to try drinking water, and i drink more than 3 litres of water a day..it has had the obvious side effects, lol, but in a few weeks time it has reduced my acne considerably, not completely though, but it really has made a difference, so is there a connection with acne and driinking of water, is it possible that this will be long term, how does the water i drink really work?...thanks
Acne %26amp; water....does it have a connection?
Water is a great thing for your skin (largest organ) as it breathes and helps flush toxins away (bacteria from your face). It's not a perfect remedy but it does help - with so much.
It's good to hear it really helps your skin clear up -
as it's true - I hope it continues to help you I am sure your skin (all over) will glow and so will your hair... internally too.
Reply:I used to drink 5 liters of water a day and my acne also reduced. I have been told that its because water flushes out your system and takes alot of the yucky stuff out. I have had acne since I was 5 and I have been on every medication there was at the time what I found worked the best was water!
Reply:Everyone should drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.
Water keeps your body hydrated and also helps to rid your body of impurities.
Water is more than likely helping to reduce your acne outbreaks due to its ability to flush your system.
Reply:Controversial area. See the source below on the benefit of drinking water.

Will me acne go away?
I have acne on my face, but i just get random one's that pop up. I don't have the severe kind where my face is covered, but i get occasional one's like near my nose and on my chin. I'm only 16 and my mom says i'm just going through puberty. Will my acne eventaully go away by the time i become an adult?
Will me acne go away?
if your 16 and its just the odd spot and you dont have it all over your face then just wait till you grow out of it . all teenagers get spots its just part of growing up , but if it gets to the stage where yor face is covered with spots , go see a dermatologist and he/she will put you on a drug that will get rid of it within 3 months .
Reply:yes. but if you will like to get rid of it faster you can wash your face with hot water and soap. Than with cold water. DAILY.
Hot water opens pores
Reply:I have acne to and not the severe kind either. I just wasj my face with clearasil everyday and that seems to be helping and getting rid of the zits so try it and see what you think
Reply:you can buy this stuff thats pretty gently called clean and clear persa gel every night before you go to bed on your problem spots. you keep using it until you see results. you could keep using it for as long as you want. i have great skin now and people comment on how great my skin looks. wash your face with ivory soap and warm facecloth in a circular motion. keep your hands away from face and stop picking your face (if you are)

Anyone know the best things for Acne Rosacea?
Just wondering cause I have been on metro gel and tetracycline to control it and they don't seem to work. It seems I am a lucky one, no acne at all in high school but as an adult I am cursed. I woulda rather been a pizza face in high school...lol thanks for your responses
Anyone know the best things for Acne Rosacea?
I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/... that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.
Reply:proactive solution is the best.

Reply:Those are the standard treatments? I had a thyroid problem and when THAT was finally under control the rosacea seemed to clear up? My family dr said the t hyroid was ok but I didn't believe him and went to a thyroid specialist who found hyperthyroidism and a goiter. I had rosacea for 3 years before that? As far as the redness goes, Eucerine Redness relief moisturizer is great! Get your thyroid checked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Acne treatment?
can anyone suggest a good acne treatment. I have used proactiv, but my skin is very sensitive to it %26amp; I broke out in a rash. I never had acne when I was young, but now as an adult I seem to be breaking out more in the T-zone area. can anyone relate???
Acne treatment?
go get the full clinique treatment. I will probably cost about $140 but it really works and will last like 3 months.
Reply:See a dermatologist, he'll know what to do ;)
Reply:I'd suggest going to talk to a doctor mine prescribed me a medicine called Accutane and it works great.
Reply:I also got a rash from Proactiv, I think I'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide - that could be the problem with it for you too.
I use a gentle cleanser followed by a salicylic acid solution to keep my pores clear. It is hard to find salicylic acid like that (most companies put it in cleanser, which you rinse off) - I get mine at paulaschoice.com. Good luck!
Reply:throw proactv away it screwed up my skin too :( into a rash all over my face its WORSE
I jsut cameback from CVS and the Doctor told me to use to Cortizone . . . well see what happens

EUCALYPTUS OIL
11/24/2007: Vinny (highbury21@gmail.com) from Atlanta, GA writes: "A quick, cheap, %26amp; healthy way to prevent and heal acne (even blackheads) is to use Eucalyptus Aromatherapy Oil. A big bottle is about $8-9 and can be found at GNC. Make sure you dilute it with water as it is very potent like other oils. You should have very good success with this and should notice HUGE differences within a day."
APPLE CIDER Vinegar AND ALOE VERA FOR ACNE
10/04/2007: Martha from Lawrenceville, GA writes: "I've always had trouble with acne -- I could never get my skin completely under control. ACV helped -- taking it internally -- but I still broke out in a monthly cycle. I started using aloe vera gel on my face a few weeks ago, and my skin has cleared up dramatically. I've not had one breakout, and my skin is getting to be so pretty! I just use a generic aloe vera gel that I picked up in WalMart."
COCONUT OIL AND ALOE VERA FOR ACNE
10/03/2007: Jennifer from Kirkland, Washington writes: "I have been using a mixture of coconut oil and aloe vera gel (4:1 ratio) on my face for my acne for only 2 weeks and it has almost completely cleared it up. I have had moderate to severe acne since I was 13 (I am now 37), and have tried everything under the sun to diminish it. Some things have helped more than others, but this is the first time my skin has felt so good and looked so good in almost 25 years

check out http://www.acnetreatmentlab.com for information. they work best when combined because benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria while niacinamide prevents inflammation and promotes healing.

Help with acne problems, teenager or experienced adults?
im not willing to spend more than 20 dollars for this,
or buy six different tea bags so it will go away,
im just wondering what people out there have used that might ACTUALLY WORK, that wont cost me a fortune.,
or at least help the redness.
Help with acne problems, teenager or experienced adults?
I suggest trying AcneDerm Foaming Wash together with AcneDerm Medicated Lotion, a complete anti-bacterial acne treatment that clears the skin by fighting bacteria and unblocking oil ducts. The anti-inflammatory lotion also reduces redness and dries up pimples fast. It's available in Pharmacies. Hope that helps.
Reply:I've used Eucerin face wash and moisture lotion. It's for sensitive skin so it can't cause much damage. ;D
Reply:I use stridex pads for sensitive skin in the morning and St. Ives apricot scrub at night.
Stridex pads both in the morning and at night work for me too, but dries out my skin really bad.
Reply:Okay. I would be the perfect person to listen to, because, I've had acne, used EVERYTHING and now I don't have it anymore. So, treating acne takes TIME and works in Stages to overcome it.
1st Step-Open Pores-this can be done with a hot shower, or applying hot water to face to open the pores.
2nd Step-Cleaning out the Pores-this is where those commercial advertisements and all of those products come in. Different products work for different people. But, let me recommend ProActive. I just got it 3 weeks ago, and it's working wonders. Right in your price range too! about 19.95 a month and they automatically send it to your door!
3rd Step-Following your plan! Whatever you use follow these steps... Open Pores, Clean Pores, Close Pores, Hydrate (because cleaning the pores usually dries them out). Follow this cleaning process 3 times a day.
4th Step-DIET!-and not just burning fat diet, but what you eat is what you are! True Story! Eating greasy, hi-fat, hi-cal foods will promote more acne! So...eat less or none at all, and same for the acne, less or NONE!
Thats just the basic, there is a lot more I could tell you so just email me for more information. tomd562@gmail.com
Let me know how your acne does!!!
Reply:I went through it as did my sisters. The best thing to do would be to go to a dermatologist. They will definatly prescribe you medications, most likely an antibiotic and topical creams, and ask them what face wash you should use. It shouldn't be too costly if you have good insurance. I would recommend neutrogena acne wash applyed twice a day with a gental scrub brush. Make sure what ever face wash you use is oil free. Also use a toner they do wonders! Diet can have alot to do with your acne as well so maybe you should look closer at what you eat and stay away from highly greasy and sugary foods. Remember it is all about moderation. =] Good luck.

Acne questions?
I had acne since I was 14 and now that I am an adult I still having a few break outs. I have acne scars and black heads and I can’t find a product that can clear the scars, ultimate the black-heads, on top of not drying out my sensitive skin.
My questions are…..
1. What product can I use to clear my acne scars?
2. What can I use for my black heads?
3. I recently lost 15 pounds and ever since I started dieting my acne gotten worse, can my diet be the problem?
Acne questions?
1, mederma cream can help with the scarring... it won't preform miracles, but it will lesson them
2. try the biore pore perfect strips... awesome.. it is gross what you will pull out, but once you see it, you will know why they work

This easy, effective method uses one kitchen-cupboard herbal ingredient, and calls upon the power of a warm compress to open pores and allow the healing benefits of the herb to work on blemished skin. The compress method is more comforting and quicker to use than a facial steam, but is every bit as effective.
SIMPLE SOLUTION: Here are the simple how-to instructions to help clear troubled skin:
INGREDIENTS
1 quart water
1/2 to 1 cup dried thyme leaves (for a VERY strong infusion)
1. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Remove it from the heat and add the thyme. Cover the pan and steep the mixture for 20 minutes, then strain out the herbs and discard them. Let the infusion cool to warm. (You should be able to put your hand in the infusion and keep it there for several minutes without discomfort.)
2. Soak a clean washcloth with the infusion and wring the excess from it. With your eyes closed, place the washcloth on your face for 15 minutes. Remove the washcloth from your face and apply an astringent.
go to the web site below and do a search for acne articles..theres a great one about acne and diet etc.

DO YOU SUFFER FROM ACNE / OILY SKIN ? This may help !!?
All her adult life my wife has suffered from acne. She had tried every known remedy out there, and even been prescribed medication by the doctor, but nothing ever works. That was until we came across something on ebay, which we only describe as a miracle cure. It is a volcanic ash which you make into a face pack. Anyway, we wanted to let other acne sufferers know about it so here is the link, and it doesn't matter if you don't have an ebay account either, the seller will allow you to send payment by post:

Help with acne, im 13!?
Hey, im 13, and i guess have sorta mild acne( some break outs on my chin, and around my nose), i was wondering if there are any remedies or stuff you can buy at the drug store? and im not sure if "acnefree" and proactive" work for me, because it says they are a "adult" formula. I have been using nutragena acne wash for my face, and after that i wipe some witch hazel, i been doing this for a week now. So any tips would be nice, thanks!
Help with acne, im 13!?
Don't use hydrogen peroxide! It will just dry out your face and possibly bleach your eyebrows. I am speaking from experience- I tried this and my face was a crusty mess and my black eyebrows turned red!
The acne free will likely work on you, even though it says adult formula. It contains benzoil-peroxide which is different form regular peroxide. Pediatricians usually suggest products with this ingredient. I have tried everything under the sun and have found that products with this active ingredient are the only products that work. I have also used a benzoil-peroxide based wash from kaiser permanente that works just as well as acne free, so check with your pharmacy to see if they have a pharmacy-brand wash. Since you have mild acne, I think you might be able to get results by just buying the face wash, not the whole set.
A lot of products on the market saclyic acid (sp?) netrogena and stridex use this ingredient. These products work well on some people, but it made my acne worse. Continue to try what you are trying, but if it doesn't work switch to something containing the benziol-peroxide.
Reply:I usually pick my zits so they will turn into scabs. Then I just let the scabs heal and then no more zits!
Reply:Don't pick at your acne. It only makes it worse. Make an appointment with a dermatologist. There are many different prescriptions, lotions, and creams to prescribe you. The dermatologist will prescibe what is right for you.
In the morning I use Clindamycin Phosphate. I use Differin Gel (sometimes I mix it with Differin Cream) at night.
It takes time for the Differin to work too. It may take as long as 2-3 weeks.
I steam my face once a week. It seems to help with the blackheads on my nose.
I'm 18 years old (almost 19 in a month) and I've had light acne for nearly 5 years. I'm tempted to pick at my acne sometimes. I try to resist. I've noticed that picking at your acne only creates more acne. It also creates scars if you pick at it enough. There is no quick fix for acne, it takes time!
Good Luck!
Reply:a. baking soda
b. hurry up and see a dermatoligsist, over the counter the products just seem to suck up your money, howvere the repair lotion for acnefree and proactive works very nice but the washer and "toner" .. not soo much
c. go see a derma, he/she will help your skin so you wont suffer from acne throught the rest of your teen years....
trust me ive bought all the overcounter prodcuts and results have been dissapoitning
dermtoligist is the way to go
Reply:i have that new garnier fructris and it worx 4 me.but dnt worry acne comes and goes i had alot wen i was 13 now im 14 and i dnt really have any(hopefully it doesnt come back lol)
Reply:Acne can be very frustrating, and tough to get rid of. One of the main causes of acne is oil, so to help clear your skin of access oil without drying your skin out you should get oil sheets (clean %26amp; clear makes good ones.) You should use these after school. Wash your face at night with any kind of mild acne soaps, make sure they contain salicyc acid. In the morning wash your face with a regular bar soap, like dove. In the morning only, put a light mostruizer on your face to help keep your skin from drying out. You're probably wanting results fast, by you have to be patient. Also, once or twice a week you can try a clay acne removing face mask. When washing your face make sure to use a washcloth, the oils from your skin can cause you to break out.

Acutane (sp?) question: Just how bad does acne have to be to get acutane?
I have a friend in high school with terrible ance but she said her face was not covered to a certain percentage required to be prescribed acutane. Her face looked so bad I would surely have thought she was a candidate. Now, as an adult, I have very painful cystic acne a lot of the time. My face stays broken out (always 15-35 blemishes I would say) with an extra painful knot or two most of the time around the jawline or under my jaw. I am not so vain that I care for my looks sake but I am in pain! Am a maybe possible a candidate?
Acutane (sp?) question: Just how bad does acne have to be to get acutane?
yeah, there is no cure for acne. u can take the best pill out there, that doesn't necessarily mean the acne will go away. however, it might get better, but it won't go away. accutane is prescribed for individuals who have a serious case of acne. if ur case is very mild to moderate, do not use it. accutane is very strong and has a lot of symptoms and u can only take it while under the supervision of a dermatologist/doctor. u need to go for blood tests, u can't be active a lot, it's just a very powerful medicine that totally wipes out the liver, and doesn't even work for everybody. so, unless u have nothing to lose, take it otherwise i wouldn't.
Reply:my doctor said i would be able to use it if i had those "creators" on my face. but you can always ask your doctor to see if your a candidate

Reply:You can help to keep your skin at it's best with a healthy diet. Making sure you eat enough fresh fruits and vegetables each day will help to make your skin look better. This will take time, it's not an overnight solution.
Also trying less harsh chemicals on your skin can be better than the super strong stuff. Sometimes when you use the harsh stuff it makes your skin problems worse because your body is trying to fight the chemicals you have put on it.
Reply:Go to acne doctor
Reply:Proactive should work if you are using it correctly. If you are applying 2 much of it at a time it will make your acne worse. A small amout goes a long ways.
Other wise I would consult a dermatoligist they can proscribe something better for you.
Keep your hands off of your face as much as possbile. When washing your face use your fingertips NOT a wash cloth. Drink plently of water! Don't sleep laying on your face.
Reply:Toothpaste usually works to dry it out overnight!!! it works for me
Reply:I have used ProActiv, it really works, I know your thinking that because alot of celebrities have used it and it supposedly "cleared" everything up. Well I'm a small town country boy and trust me it cleared me up in three weeks!!!

In regard to your answer I would like to tell you first of all try to wash your face many times in a day and after that just appply a acne cream. But listen do not eat oily stuff as it increases the rate of pimples.
this is the age at which youngsters generelly gets acne problem, don't worry it'll be cured soon, but do apply to the suggestion once and then feel the difference.
Ok then take a good care of yourself, Byee :-)
Reply:try natures cure two part face acne treatment you can get it at wal-mart or target also at some drugstores they come with some homeopathic pills and with a lil cream that contains about 5% of benzoyle peroxide it works slow but its worth it,

What is Glycolic Acid? Glycolic acid is the most active and beneficial of the Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHA) used in skin care and is derived from sugar cane. Studies have shown glycolic acid to be the most effective fruit acid for cosmetic application. It has the smallest molecular structure of all AHAs, thus possesses the greatest penetration potential. Inside the cell, it stimulates the collagen and elastin fibers in the dermis, improving the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and other forms of sun damage. Due to this unique mechanism of action, glycolic acid has also been found to be beneficial for the management of conditions involving hyperkeratinization, i.e., psoriasis, ichthyosis, acne, dry skin, etc. Anyone suffering from these skin disorders would benefit greatly from the use of glycolic acid. It’s a fundamental part of a skin care maintenance program that will keep your skin healthy throughout the years.
• Facts:
• Glycolic acid is also a natural occurring compound, is a member of the chemical family referred to as: ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS.
• Glycolic Acid is the most active and beneficial of the Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHA) in skin care and is made from sugar canes.
• It is the only AHA which is able to penetrate through the cell walls by virtue of its small molecular size. Once inside the cell, it will trigger new formation of collagen and turn on the synthesis of dermal glycosaminoglycans to plump up the cell and the ground substances in the skin to reduce wrinkles on the skins surface.
• Glycolic Acid also affects the newly forming keratin cells at the bottom of the stratum corneum causing the bulk of the stratum corneum to lift off and separate from the underlying skin. This gives the skin a much smoother look and feel.

• Glycolic Acid also affects the newly forming keratin cells at the bottom of the stratum corneum causing the bulk of the stratum corneum to lift off and separate from the underlying skin. This gives the skin a much smoother look and feel.

The Benefits of glycolic acid make it one of the most effective substances for many skin conditions including:

Minor daily acne?
Now, I don't have an acne problem, per se. At least, it's not like I need Proactive or anything like that. But nearly every morning I wake up with very tiny pimples...usually on my nose or in the corners where my nostrils meet my face. They're really not that big a deal. Just a quick pop or a good face scrubbing and they're gone for the day. My skin is pretty clear, thankfully, although I do sometimes get a large nasty pimple or two on my forehead from wearing a hat too often. I don't do much to my face, aside from wash it during the day and usually a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball before I go to bed.
My question is, when in the hell will I be done with it? What's the problem these days? Why do so many people continue to have acne, however minor, into their adult lives? I understand that some people have a more severe case, and thus require products like proactive and/or prescription drugs. But what about people like me who just have minor acne breakouts once in awhile?
Minor daily acne?
Hey, I'm a skin care specialist and see problems like this all of the time. If you are not washing your face everday, then start. If you do, then I would suggest you stop using rubbing alcohol of your face, it can dry it out too much and cause your face to produce even more oil than normal at night. Use an astringent, if you feel funny buying one, then get your girlfriend to do it for you...lol. What you are experiencing is not acne, it is just pores that have been overwhelmed with sebacous oils. That is why you can squeeze it out and leave no marks. Use a moisturizer, men need it too. This will also cut down on the oil production.
Reply:I had the same problem. I found a facial cleanser that cleared them up. Try Olay deep facial cleanser for oily and combination skin. If it doesn't work, your only out 4-5 dollars.
Reply:You should never, under any circumstances--no matter
how small a pimple is--pop it or pick at it. That's a sure-
fire way to infect the pores where it grew; and it's going
to make way for a new one.
As for the larger ones that grow inside your hat, I'd sug-
gest treating those with the strongest anti-acne cream
you can find: there are so many to choose from, that it
can actually be a waste of time and money to consult a
dermatologist--unless you have an excessively-oily face.
(I I once knew a guy who had not only a "pock-marked"
complexion, but his pores seemed to pour out oil!)
Going back to your hat for just a moment: the thing is,
the constant sweat is what's preventing any pimples on
your forehead from going away; that's why it is plain %26amp;
simply imperative to keep them treated. (Another way
to try would be cleaning your hat's inside rim with a wash
rag, soap and hot water.)
Left untreated, any complexion--no matter how minor it
might seem--has the potential to not just worsen, but...
worse yet... develop a case of some sort of skin rash--
such as rosacia.
Best of health %26amp; good luck.

Why are teenagers more likely to get acne than older adults and young children?
well the reason is in teen years both in girls and boys there are lots of changes in endocrine system and hormone activities of the body.in boys testis is begining to produce testostrone that is a very potent androgen.in females androgen is produced by 2 sources adrenal gland and ovaries, the androgen in females is less potent and mainly is androstondion..androgen production although will continue for rest of everybodies life after teen years in teenagers just started and it is very irregular as a result teens not also have a very huge changes because of the sex hormones they are also affected by the irrigulairity of regulating systems. one of the changes is acne(technical word for it is acne vulgaris, vulgaris means regular-sometimes we have other forms aswell!! i dont wana make it compilicated!!).after the tenn years because of regulating adjustment and also because of established skin changes everything is resolved.in females androgen level also goes down because the cycles become more regular and main sex hormone wil switch to estrogen although androstondion still is produced from adrenal in very low level

Why is it that teenagers get more acne than kids, adults, and elders?
Hormones, diet, your showering habits, sleep, stress all things teens encounter - some adults do have acne - more then when they were a kid, stress/hormones there too.

Reply:Teenagers have more hormones then adults because by the time we reach adulthood our hormones have leveled out. Just getting out of puberty makes our skin more oily and as I said harmones are all crazy.
Reply:Because... of their out-of-control hormones (puberty). You don't have active hormones when you are a kid... and once you're older, the hormones are settled.
Reply:Hormonal and bodily changes is why it is more common in teenagers. This is when you need to develop a good skin routine for facial and body care. Some people don't develop acne until they are adults though.
Reply:teens get more cause there going through puburty and everyone either hasn't done it, or is done with it.
Reply:yea, when ur a child your hormones arent as out of control as they are when ur going through pueberty and during the teenage years your hormones are raging and the smallest thing can trigger a huge reaction, so like if i eat chocolate cake for 4 days in a row i get tons of zits, but if my dad does too he might get one, but it will be barely noticeable and go away pretty quickly b/c his hormones are more in control
it will pass, dont worry
Reply:During puberty, the hormones that regulate how much oil your body makes are going crazy, which typically causes teens to make more oil, which leads to more acne.

CAn anyone maybe give me a reason to why this would be happening? Any advice would really make me feel better....
Thanks sooo much!
About acne developing in adults..?
Hi Mandy
Here is an unusual but very effective method to heal many issues (especially skin). Also whatever you focus on in life you attract. If you focus more on acne issues instead of healthy habits%26lt; you will have more acne issues. Just focus on the positives of life because that is what you want correct? The universe knows what you dont want. Be thankful everyday and focus on the bright and healthy future.
INTRODUCTION TO OIL PULLING ("OP")
REPORTED CURES WITH OIL PULLING:
Mouth %26amp; Gum Disease; Stiff Joints; Allergies; Asthma; Acne, High Blood Sugar; Constipation; Migraines; Bronchitis; Eczema; Heart, Kidney, Lung Diseases; Leukemia; Arthritis; Meningitis; Insomnia; Menopause (hormonal issues); Cancer; AIDS; Chronic Infections; Varicose Veins; High Blood Pressure; Diabetes; Polio; Cracked Heels,.
Here's are a few paragraphs from Bharat Savur's article on The Hindu Business Online
..."When Dr Karsch examined the swished milk-white oil under a microscope with 600 magnification, he saw live organisms swimming in it. It's poisonous, so never swallow it, he warns. These poisons are bacteria-embryos, which, if not eliminated, cause diseases. Apparently, Dr Karsch cured his own chronic blood disease and 15-year-old arthritis.
The first sign of improvement is in the teeth-they become firm and white, he says. Other healing indications: fresh, relaxed feeling on waking up, disappearing dark pouches below the eyes, anew appetite and energy, better memory and deep sleep.
Dr Karsch swears by the mouth oil-wash for anything from organ-disorders, skin-diseases, menstrual problems, paralysis to every ache and it is in the human anatomy. You can swish even when you have fever, he says, adding, it takes anything from two days to a year to cure a disease.
And if these claims sound exaggerated, he told a conference of Ukrainian cancer specialists, try out the process yourself.
Interestingly, Ayurveda advises oil swishing "to purify the taste-buds and the entire system", as explained by Dr Deepak Chopra in Perfect Health.
According to this life science, the tongue is mapped by organ-locations — that is, each section of the tongue is connected to the kidneys, lungs, spleen, liver, heart, pancreas, small intestines, stomach, colon, and spine.
Thus, an oil-mouth-massage soothes and stimulates the key meridians where taste meets organ. Simultaneously, as in any skin-massage, the inner skin and lining of the mouth, palate and tongue become warm and supple and the lubrication prevents dryness (the vatic effect).
In modern dietetics too, dryness is discussed.
For example, lack of Vitamin A (retinal) causes the outer lining of the eyeball to dry and wrinkle, and affects vision.
And as any dietician would tell you, all oils contain 960 micrograms of vitamin A per 10 gm (the recommended daily allowance of vitamin A per adult is 600 micrograms). So, it's possible that oil gargling helps in reaching the required retinal to the eyeballs and keeps them elastic and smooth.
Likewise, the Ayurvedic `purification of taste-buds' also has its equivalent in dietetics as `antioxidants'. Oxidation literally means `the putrefaction of body-tissues'.
And oil-soluble vitamins, A, C, D, and E are antioxidants that protect and prevent the decaying process and help maintain the integral functioning of cell membranes. That's why many people are ingesting vitamin E pills to stem `aging' (oxidation). "

Reply:I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is a condition of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.
Here is a link :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradeniti...
If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.
Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing. Stress is a big inducer.
There is some support groups at MSN , and yahoo, and I am open for questions!
I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, It was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don’t have to wait as long as I did.
Reply:PIMPLES
Pimples is a unique skin disorder.Pimples are lesions that occur when the skin’s pores are obstructed or infected. They can form for a variety of reasons. However, the mechanism involved in causing some pores to collapse and block drainage of natural oils is not really understood. Pimples may also crop up for genetic reasons. It is not clear how it can be inherited from one’s parents, but studies do indicate a high occurrence of pimples in children whose parents had it,too.
The pimples associated with adolescence almost certainly occur because of hormonal changes that take place during puberty. Both males and females get an overdose of the male hormone testosterone during this period, causing excessive generation of sebaceous fluids that invariably cause pimples.
GIVEN BELOW ARE A FEW SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES TO FIGHT PIMPLES.
1.The most basic form of pimple prevention is hygiene and preventive skin care. Regular washing of the affected areas with mild soap is a must. The soap need not necessarily contain any chemicals designed to prevent pimples .However, face washing should not be overdone or the skin will become dehydrated .
2.Care should be taken on makeup, moisturizers and other skin care products. If these products are oil based,it would just make the problem worse. Use water based products instead.
3.Generally we rub, press or squeeze our pimples.Don’t when we do this,we risk spreading the bacteria to other areas.
4.Lemon juice diluted in water can be applied externally because of its antiseptic
quality.
5.Tea Tree oil can also be applied directly to infected pores.
6.Vitamin A tablets are also a natural and effective cure. Vitamin A promotes healthy skin.
7.Before bathing, apply a mixture of fresh tomato pulp, honey and rose-water to your face and keep for twenty minutes before washing off.
8.Juice of raw papaya is the best treatment for pimples.Apply fresh juice of raw papaya on pimples and get a good result.
9.Directly rub potato slices all over the face, helps to get rid of blemishes and
pimple scar.
10.Drink plenty of water and vegetable or fruit juices.
11.Use cucumber or other fruit and vegetable packs to cure pimple scars.
12.Maintain a diet that is rich in cottage cheese, salads, fresh juices, fish and
yogurt. These help to cleanse your system and ward off pimples.
13.Another overnight home remedy for pimples is to put a dab of toothpaste on it to help dry it out. Calamine lotion also will have the same drying effect.
14.Pound orange peel with water and apply to affected areas.
15.Another useful remedy for pimples is zinc. Which can be taken in a dose of 50 mg daily for a month and then reduce the dose.
16.You can clean your skin with apple cider vinegar as an overnight home pimple remedy.
17.Aspirin contains Beta hydroxy acid which is a powerful defoliant ,so you can crush 1to 2 Aspirin tablets mix with a little water and apply on pimples for 15 minutes and wash.
Finally, certain medications may temporarily alter the hormonal changes prevalent during adolescence and cause pimple outbreaks. If this is the case, a simple adjustment in medication may be all that is required.
Reply:Hi!
I actually found a facial oil that slows down your skins oil production, clears up pimples/ acne and dissolves black heads within 4-8 weeks I put all the info on my blog as it's quite detailed:
http://beautymoi.blogspot.com/
I also put a full article of how to extract blackheads and steam your skin.
Black heads are basically a hardened oil mixture that was secreted from your pores and oxidized (which makes the outside part black) and since water and oil don't mix, no water based product can "clean" your blackheads away, just try say putting certain foundations or makeups on the mirror and if you wipe it with water it smudges all over but put a little baby oil and wipe and tada! it comes off super clean AND dissolves it. So this is basically how this oil works. It's composition is such that the skin accepts it as a healing oil and it does not clog your skin but rather protects it while the plant extracts inside go down into the pores (this absorption is made possible by applying the toner to the skin before applying the oil and then applying the dabs of oil over your moistened face), it then penetrates into the pores.
I put where to the name of the oil and prices in stores versus on eBay as well as how to apply it on my blog:
http://beautymoi.blogspot.com/
Also you may want to Google Drying Lotion by Mario Badescu.
Take care and good luck!

Reply:YOu can be breaking out from a number of reasons. Stress, hormones, products.....it could be anything. See a dermotologist and suggest Tazorac cream and use a gentle cleanser....Mario Badescu has some great face washes for acne. You can find them online. And most importantly.....do not pick or squeeze, this is the ultimate way for acne to spread.
Hope this helped!

Reply:Maybe you've developed an allergy to food or a product you are using. Try eliminating certain things from you diet one food group at a time for at least two weeks. If you don't see an improvement there, change up your detergents and make-up to see what happens.
