My grandmother insists that this is the ultimate cure. I have been taking some, but don't see a result. Is this a futile attempt to get rid of adult acne? It's not very severe.

Waste of time.
There actually is a real vitamin that helps acne. Vitamin A and its chemical relatives, the retinoids, when applied topically are an excellent treatment for acne.
You can also get generic benzoyl peroxide creams at the local drug store for not much money.
