Does Tretracycline really work on acne?

Have just been prescribed Tetralysal 300 for my acne. Has anyone had positive experiences with this drug and is it effective on adult acne (im 31)

I had really bad acne and nothing help me better then Retin-A. Ask your doctor about this cream it's great. It doesn't dry your skin out or irritate it at all !! You can also drink the pills, what the pills do is renew your skin so all that died skin can fall off and stop that bactaria that creates dirty pores that become pimples.
Reply:I was prescribed it when I was younger. To be honest, i don't know if it worked or not. It was a real pain taking the pills. You can't eat for a certain amount of time before and after you take the pills, plus you couldn't go to sleep within a certain amount of time after taking the pill. It was just too overwhelming for me and my schedule.
Reply:probably but it also slightly darkens the teeth...try one of Aveeno or other top product for acne.some of them are really very good...
Reply:I used to take tetracycline when I was in high school. It did nothing for my acne.... actually I was allergic to it! When I went in the sun I broke out in a huge rash.... that was much more embarrassing than acne.
Reply:Please do not start taking antibiotics for acne. They cause so many other problems. They kill off the necessary bacteria in the intestines, etc. which fight disease. Plus they can make you sick and sensitive to sun, and MANY other problems. Being on antibiotics indefinetly is not treating the real problem. I too have suffered with acne and finally came to the conclusion that the answer to the acne is not found in "products" or drugs. Acne is a problem that comes from within and in order to solve it, you must treat the origination of the problem. It is caused by toxins the body is trying to get rid of through the skin. You must detoxify your body and balance your hormones. If you are female, use Natural Progesterone Oil (I use Progestelle brand) for the hormone issue. Additionally, do a 3 day apple-only diet and colon cleansing to remove built-up toxins from the body. Do this monthly and your skin will glow. It worked for me and beleive me, nothing else has and I've tried it all, Proactive (useless and STINKS) Arbonne, Clearasil, the list goes on and so does the money I spent. This is the answer. Search it out for yourself on the internet.
