How can I get rid of my acne?

I'm a 26 year old female. I didn't really have acne as a teenager, but now I look like a teen going through puberty...I've been told that a lot of the medications you find in drugstores are not good for adults with acne--something about the oils. Right now I'm using Salicilic Acid soap (it's pure salicilic acid) but it's not working. I don't have a lot of money to spend on products like Proactiv. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use?

How can I get rid of my acne?
I guess these people missed the fact that you can't spend too much on products like Proactiv. Anyways...if Salicylic Acid is not working, I suggest you try something else, Benzoyl Peroxide does wonders...the cheapest place you can get it at is Wal-Mart. They offer a small bottle for around $2.00 and it lasts a long time...generally you should apply this to your acne about twice a day after you wash your face...if you want you can also buy other brands besides the Wal-Mart kind...for a couple more dollars you can get Clean and Clear version that is tinted so you can wear it during the day and not have white visible marks on your face. Also I would suggest reading the label on it, as you might want to start with a low dosage and move up from there if your face doesn't seemd too irritated. I believe the the strongest you can get is 10% Benzoyl Peroxide...but that might be too irritating for your face. Also another very cheap way to dry your acne is to apply lemon juice to them from a fresh squuezed lemon with a Q-Tip to each breakout...this will quickly dry them out...To prevent future ones you should wash your face regularly and try to invest in a good toner...you can get a cheap one for around $5 at the store and they contain Salicylic acid products. Also....be careful if you will use both the benzoyl peroxide and the saliclic acid products....some people's faces can't take the harshness from using two medication at same time so just stick to one or the other unless your Dr. says it's ok to use them both. Good Luck!
Reply:proactive or clean an clear
Reply:Proactive --works wonders
Reply:If you are trying not to spend too much you might want to try the clean and clear products by johnson and johnson. I use the Clinique foaming acne wash and other products which I like, but they can be on the expensive side too. Unfortunately you pay for what you get, but some of these last a long time.
