As a teenager, my face was perfect. Around the age of 20, I started getting acne. Now I am 35 and have been battling it for 15 years. The breakouts are sometimes mild, sometimes severe (I am going through a severe period now). In 2003, I switched to Proactiv and it worked wonders...but as of 6 months ago, it seems to quit working and I can count about 10 very large red bumps on my face now. (Yucky to look at). I'm convinced I have a hormonal issue causing this - yes, it does strike more at a certain time of the month. BUT, my question to you today is for those of you who have this problem...or know of someone with this problem...what have you done to make it better? Please be specific...and if a prescription drug, please let me know that as well (I'm not against asking my doctor for the prescription). P.S. - I'd love to hear back from anyone recently prescribed with the new birth control pill/acne medication Yaz. I think it was just approved by the FDA.
Adult onset acne solutions?
I am in my 50's and still get pimples because I still have such an oily skin. I control it with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide, either Clearasil or Oxy 10. I use it every night. And, if I have an existing pimple, I put the medicine on that area several times during the day after washing my face. It clears up within a few days.
Reply:apply PERNOX GEL 5% 3 daily on lesions.tab.doxycycline 100mg two times daily for 2 weeks.followed by once daily.rinse your face with soap 3 to 4 times daily.good luck.
Reply:Go see your doctor or dermatoligist. He or she will most likley put you on a low dose birth control pill to help regulate your hormones, or they might prescribe anti-biotics. In additition they may also prescibe a topical cream. Best wishes!
Reply:Could be gal bladder. I had the same problem. I didn't have it removed I just have to watch what I eat. I can't have any fat (especially trans fats like fast food). If I do I break out. Eat more baked foods and stay away from fried.
