I am 30 years old and have been suffering from adult acne for a few years now. I usually use Revlon colourstay foundation but I can still see redness and marks.
Does anyone know of a really good makeup to use that is not going to clog my skin and look cakey, but will still give me awesome coverage?
Good make-up for acne coverage?
Hello, I am a professional stylist and makeup artist of 9 years and would like to help you. I would defiantly suggest treating your skin first with a good skincare regimen for acneic skin. Careful, some can be very drying! I have always had great results with Aveda's Outer Peace line. www.aveda.com or any Aveda store or salon.
For makeup. Honestly the Revlon probably is full of ingredients that irritate the acne. I would suggest a mineral makeup with no oils. Also Aveda's Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer or Dual Foundation, depending on the coverage you prefer.

Reply:Ok, a very good make up is bare minerals. The concealer is very good. It will cover all redness and it is very, very light and natural. I have been using it for a year and I rarely have a break out. It is so nice that you can sleep in it without breaking up. You can buy bare minerals at Sephora or online. You should probably buy the concealer, the starter kit (that comes with all the brushes) and the blush. I promise you not only will you love it, but you wont break out. Oh, and it stays on for hours and hours, you dont even need to apply more. Just make sure you put a moisturizer on your face before you apply it.
Reply:I love Physicians Formula Talc-Free Mineral Wear powder. It covers everything and doesn't clog pores and feels extremely lightweight. It's the most expensive for drugstore brands, but worth every penny ( about $10 ). For a liquid foundation, I also like Clinique Superbalanced foundation. It's perfect for acne prone skin and doesn't feel greasy and it's oil-free.
Reply:Pur minerals is great! It comes with a foundation (you can choose between the 3 choices of skin tone they have) then there is a bronzer and a blush. I got it at an Ulta and it is super great! Then try the burts bees ruharb lip balm with a line coat of eyeliner then a little mascara/clear then comb it out with an eylash comber! By the way the pur minerals runs at about 25-30 dollars but it also helps heal acne!

Reply:I really like to use the Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Concealer. It comes in a tube (somewhat like a lip gloss tube) and is really quick and easy to apply. It's oil free, and contains salycilic acid which helps treat your acne while you wear it. It's much easier to apply than regular liquid foundation, and since you apply it only where you need it you don't look like you're wearing a mask.
Also, I like to wear a light powder (Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder) over the foundation so my face doesn't look shiny. Wearing a powder the same shade as my foundation keeps my face an even color and, again, reduces that "mask" look that some make ups leave.
Like I said, I really like Neutrogena products because you don't have to worry about the make up your wearing giving you even more acne!

Reply:Seems like all the mineral wear is a big suggestion and this makes sense.
The best concealer I ever used was Burt's Bees which is also made from only natural ingredients. It's difficult to find in stores but you can order it from the Burt's Bees site. I have really sensitive skin that is prone to break outs and Burt's Bees provided great coverage without clogging the pores. Blend it in all the way then use a mineral powder to set it in.
I also started using Neutrogena's Acne Stress treatment at night and I am noticing less breakouts. The major key is to only put moisturizer or cream on the area that won't breakout- under eyes, and in any fine lines, I usually put my acne treatment on first then place the moisturizer on top of it.
Skin is really tricky. Keep experimenting until you find what works for you. Pro-active skin treatment always gets rave reviews and could make it where you wouldn't need to wear concealer if you didn't before the acne.
Good luck!
Reply:i use studio fix powder foundation by mac. its made for people with oilers skins (which im assuming, correct me im wrong, you might have along with your acne). its a buildable foundation (meaning you can layer it up) and it covers really nicely, especially if you have the perfect shade. plus, it feels like your wearing barely any makeup. another pro to powder foundation is that it is easy to apply and blend so its perfect for use when you are on the go, travelling, or dont have time to blend liquid in.
hope this helps@

trust me its worth every cent!! its (39$ by the way)
u can find it at nordstroms or neiman marcus
Reply:sorry sue, don't have a clue. Good luck!
Reply:For me, Pro-Active did nothing. Murad, however, solved my problems to the point where I can go without makeup. Works better than prescription medicine, which I found to be horrible for my stomach. For acne scars, no medicine will take those away. You'll need to get a chemical peel.

I also have used Bare Minerals for five years...back when they only had a few stores in N.California. It works really well and I can mix the toner and the powder to make a great concealer. Plus, their blushes are awesome (True looks beautiful on skin).
